Carmen Davidson grew up in East London training in the RAD ballet method under the late Geraldine Cross. After matriculating, she first studied ballet teaching at UCT Ballet School followed by Diagnostic Radiography at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Grateful for the deeper knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology gained from her radiography studies, Carmen began her ballet teaching career in 1995, teaching children and adults in Port Elizabeth, Margate and Benoni.
In 2013 she returned to East London to take over the direction of the Geraldine Cross School of Ballet and also furthered her ballet teaching studies, completing the Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies through the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
Carmen first read about Dance for PDŽ in 2011 and had an immediate longing to become involved in the programme.
The opportunity to do so finally presented itself in January 2016 when she relocated to Cape Town and connected with Julie. She describes the programme as "Soul food" and is passionate about seeing it spread across South Africa.
