Barbara was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where she did her RAD ballet training, plus some modern dance training.
She moved to Cape Town when she went to college and subsequently started working in Industry. She has been teaching Creative Movement Classes to children and adults for the last 20 years. The classes are a mixture of ballet, Israeli, classical, modern, contemporary, drama, hip hop, whatever is needed at the time. In addition Barbara has been teaching ballet and modern dance using the Living Dance International Syllabus for the last 5 years. She also teaches weekly tambourine classes.
"Before I did my Teacher Training for 'Dance for Parkinson's SA' I attended a class and felt as if I had 'come home'. I knew it was a programme that I wanted to get involved with, and I have loved teaching the classes. I always leave the classes feeling privileged to be able to do something that I love, and hopefully help people in the process."
